City of Cortland Bond Rating Raised

Standard and Poor’s recently completed their annual rating review based on the City’s financial performance for 2010 and has informed the City of Cortland that it is raising the City’s bond rating from bbb (stable outlook) to bbb+ (positive outlook).

Mayor Susan Feiszli states, “This improvement is a testament to the commitment of each member of the Common Council, the innovative management style of every Department Head, and the devotion of each city employee. In this economic climate where thousands of municipalities have recently seen their ratings downgraded, this is exceptional news and a positive step in the right direction. By continuing to work together, we will reach our goal to achieve an A status.”
