Local Artists Selected for Oregon Exhibit

David Beale and Emily Gibbons, members of the Cortland Life Drawing Class, have both had works selected for the juried 2011 International Au Naturel Exhibit in Astoria, Oregon. The exhibit will run from February 17 – April 14, 2011 at Clatsop Community College. Only 56 works of art were selected from over 840 images submitted by 216 artists from 29 states plus the District of Columbia, and also including international submissions from Japan, India, the Philippines, Greece, Denmark, Germany, and Canada

“Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century” is a competition and exhibit which focuses on the time-honored tradition of the nude human figure, an art form that continues to inspire and challenge many artists today as one of the most potentially rewarding subjects to explore. This exhibit represents a wide range of interpretations of the human figure from representational to abstract. The Cortland Life Drawing Class, sponsored by the Cultural Council of Cortland County, will start a new 4 week session on Thursday, February 17. Call 607-753-7786 or email at staff@cortlandarts.com for more information about the class.
