100 Years of Cortland Sports (Photo Calendar)

100 Years of Cortland SportsJust in time for the holidays, the East End Community Center, the Cortland County Historical Society and the Cortland Youth Bureau have teamed up to release a unique collector’s item for local history and sports buffs. With the help of many members of the community, the three organizations have compiled a 2011 calendar packed full of fascinating photos and facts about local residents who have participated in a variety of sports over the last hundred years. The photos range from a spontaneous group picture of children at the Dexter Park skating rink in the 1940’s to a professional photo of John J. McGraw donated by the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

These calendars will go fast! Be sure to pick up one or several before it’s too late. The following are locations that are carrying the calendar through the holiday season: Bangles, Bags and Bling, Cortland County Historical Society, Cortland Downtown Partnership, Cortland Youth Bureau, Jodi’s Hallmark, Mando Books, Mullen Office Outfitters, Sarvay Shoe Co, Sheridan’s Jewelry.

The calendar was designed by Jim Coon and printed by Cortland Press/Carbon Copies. Proceeds from calendar sales will benefit both the East End Community Center and the Cortland County Historical Society and will help them preserve local history for future generations.
