Celtic Festival Newsletter Competition Winners Announced

The SUNY Cortland Outreach Center at the Beard Building, 9 Main Street, was the scene of an awards ceremony this past Thursday for the winners of the Cortland Celtic Cultural Association’s Newsletter Competition. SUNY Cortland students in professor Tim Emerson’s Professional Writing course developed the newsletters through the Service Learning Program, a division of SUNY Cortland’s Institute for Civic Engagement.

Members of the SUNY Cortland faculty and staff were on hand to congratulate the students, including Dr. Erik Bitterbaum, Provost Elizabeth Davis-Russell, and Mary Lynch Kennedy, Campus Writing Coordinator.

The newsletters chosen by the Association will be used throughout the year to promote the Cortland Celtic Festival and other Association events. The newsletter project is just one of many service learning projects currently underway throughout the county. For more information concerning the Service Learning Program, contact John Suarez at (607) 753-4391 or suarez@cortland.edu.
