MONTHLY PARKING PERMITS FOR DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS

  • Important note: A City social media page recently posted a generic press release from the City’s electronic parking permit and enforcement vendor that promoted what the company’s digital system is capable of, not what the City of Cortland has chosen to do. Below is information about the revised parking permit system the City is implementing to help downtown businesses, employees and residents. Please share this with others who may have received the unapproved information.
  • The City of Cortland is revising its downtown parking permit program to prioritize parking for downtown business owners, employees and residents. This applies only to monthly permits for City parking lots and replaces the confusing “Resident” permit system and the “Odd/Even” overnight parking scheme.

There are no changes to Main St. parking. Parking on Main St. remains free, and free short-term parking (two-hour) is still available in City parking lots. There will be some parking lot reconfigurations to provide more two-hour parking spaces, all City owned lots will feature new and better signage.

Downtown workers and residents may purchase a downtown parking permit for $30 a month and will be given options for choosing a lot nearest their work or home. Permits may be purchased online at:https://cortlandny.cmrpay.com/. See additional instructions below.

Due to space availability, permits will only be offered to those working and living on Main St., or Court St. and Central Ave. between Main St. and Church St.

Those looking for free hourly parking may use parking spaces on Main St. or look for two-hour parking signs in City parking lots. Parking tickets may now be paid online at this link: Pay a Parking Ticket

The City has had initial discussions about short term paid parking, but further discussion on that has been put on hold during the construction disruption on Main St. Any decisions by the Common Council about paid parking would not be made without public hearings and input from the citizen-members of the public works board.
