Public Works (DPW)
The Department of Public Works is responsible for:
- Maintenance of City Hall, Cortland Youth Bureau Office and NYS Armory
- Capital budget projects, interact with engineers, architects and contractors
- Service agreements for equipment for the sites listed above
- Purchasing: State Bid Contracts
- Storage facilities
Trash must be in "City of Cortland" trash bags and at the curb by 7 a.m. per the City Code. You may put trash out as early as 5 p.m. the day prior to your trash day. For information about your trash day, call the DPW office.

Recycle bins must also be at the curb by 7 a.m. on trash day.
Citizen Portal - Work Requests
The Citizen Portal is an on-line, non-emergency, avenue to report issues to the Public Works Department. Issues limited to pot holes, street light outages, garbage.
